Founded in 2016, Vilamoura Sailing Centre has become one of the world’s leading training destinations for competitive sailing, welcoming more than 14,000 sailors from around the world.

​

Located in the Marina de Vilamoura, on Portugal’s southern coast, the Centre combines outstanding year-round sailing conditions, professional infrastructure and dedicated onshore support in one highly accessible training environment.

​

Over the past decade, Vilamoura Sailing has hosted more than 105 international events, including 18 World Championships, 17 European Championships and 5 Olympic Qualifiers, across 14 sailing classes. More than 3,000 races have been delivered from Vilamoura.

Our 7,000 sqm boat park, with 24-hour security and direct access to the slipway, provides sailors and teams with everything they need to focus on training and competition.

​

A comprehensive range of services is available on site and nearby, including gym facilities, bicycle rental, meeting and conference rooms, airport transfers and long-term covered boat storage.

​

Teams can also access a fleet of VSR coach RIBs, 470s, ILCAs and J/70s, together with the equipment required to support professional training programmes.

Five minutes from shore to open water

One of Vilamoura’s greatest advantages is its immediate access to the Atlantic. Within five minutes of leaving the slipway, sailors can be training in open water, with reliable winds and a variety of conditions suitable for multiple sailing classes.

Our permanent team works closely with sailors, coaches and national teams to provide practical and flexible solutions for every training programme — from logistics and equipment to extended training camps.

Supported by Prow Group’s expertise in international sailing event management, Vilamoura Sailing offers an extensive calendar of international regattas and championships, giving sailors the opportunity to combine high-level training and competition from the same base.
